Custom made cedar bi-fold doors and windows make the summerhouse a uniquely adaptable space that is interchangeable depending on the conditions.

Nestled behind the Blairgowrie Back Beach on the Mornington Peninsula, this project ensures that this family will not outgrow their much-loved beach house.

A summerhouse is accessed via the kitchen in the main residence whilst externally it can be accessed from all remaining sides. Custom-made cedar bi-fold doors and windows enable dining amongst the surrounding vegetation whilst, when closed, providing protection from hot afternoon sun, wind and rain.

The eastern facade of the summerhouse frames the adjacent courtyard and swimming pool giving a clear view of kids playing on the grass or swimming. The curved feature wall defines the pool area and brings a mid-century modern feel to the overall project.
